Sfogliata and Baba in Napoli

I was trying to save my appetite for pizza but I just couldn’t resist. I had a little baba al cioccolato (a spongy, rum soaked pastry) and bought a sfogliata riccia “for later” “to split with my cousin”. As soon as the lady handed it to me and I felt it was warm, my willpower shattered. My inner self was saying “Just throw it out. That’s the only way out of this.” Then I ate the whole thing and enjoyed every last bite. Let’s hope I can work up an appetite before dinner so I can eat that pizza I came all the way for.
