Baking bread at Parco Talon
On a couple of Fridays this Fall, I’ve biked out to Parco Talon in Casalecchio to help bake bread with the lovely lady volunteers in the group Ortalon. Ortalon is a group that maintains a biodynamic garden next to Casa Margherita in the park. They sell their produce and the loaves of bread along with snacks like pizza and tigelle at their merende on Saturdays and Sundays (11am to sunset until the weather gets too cold). The bread is made with pasta madre (natural starter) and cooked in a wood burning oven. Dorotea, the leader of the pack, exudes passion for baking bread. Last time, she recounted a dream she had just had: she was hugging a loaf of bread and kissing it all over. (Yep. She lovers her bread.)
Bonus: Ortalon also hosts some goats, horses, and donkeys at Casa Margherita.
